Dr Fabre: ?We want trusts to think: 'How can we improve? What do doctors want from their trusts''
The MWF is asking GPs and hospital doctors to complete an online survey on how ?family friendly? their employer is.
MWF president Dr Clarissa Fabre said the idea arose from the CMO?s report on Women Doctors: Making a Difference which was published in 2009.
The main aim of the award is to encourage employers to revaluate their own family friendly practices, Dr Fabre said.
?We want trusts to think: 'How can we improve? What do doctors want from their trusts'', she said.
The award is especially relevant to female GPs taking maternity leave. Maternity locum payments are an important issue for female GPs as PCTs and clinical commissioning groups are not obliged to pay them, Dr Fabre said.
The deadline for survey submissions is 30 September. The award will be presented at a dinner at the House of Lords on 11 November.
