(Credit: Alex Wong/Getty Images)President Obama was set to announce a complete withdrawal of U.S. forces in Iraq when he speaks to the press at 12:45 p.m. ET in the White House on U.S.-Iraq relations after speaking to Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki via secure video conference at about 11:30 a.m. ET, CBS News has learned.
"This will allow us to say definitively that the Iraq war is over, and that the partnership between the US and Iraq will be a normal one between two sovereign nations. During their conversation, President Obama and PM Maliki strongly agreed that this is the best way forward for both countries," a White House official told CBS News.
